STA LEVEL 2 OPEN WATER QUALIFIED COACH

Fàilte oirbh! I am Dan the Merman, an experienced nature based guide across the west coast of Scotland. Based between the Sound of Jura and Loch Fyne in Earra-Ghàidheal, I love to be air a' bhlàr a-muigh.. in the great outdoors.

Principally a swim/snorkel guide and coach, I have a unique holistic approach to the experiences I offer. From wellbeing retreats to awe-inspiring Hebridean adventures, I adopt techniques and strategies built over a decade which aim to encourage sèimh, a state of calm.

If you'd like to explore majestic west coast waters for a guided walk, develop skills with a professional STA open water coaching experience or a guided swim/snorkel with RLSS open water safety cover, then you can join me to immerse in the Argyll Hope Spot

This is a unique marine protected area and first of its kind in Scotland. I work closely with this community led initiative across Loch Sween, the Sound of Jura and Loch Sunart.

Discover the natural wonders of the "coast of the Gael" through the lens of a Gael. I am passionate about the indigenous language and culture of our coastline, Gàidhlig - Gaelic, and enjoy sharing knowledge of its intrinsic connection to nature. I tell stories drawn from the waters and land that we immerse in to provide an authentic sense of place.

I collaborate with a variety of businesses and organisations across Argyll to offer retreats, holidays and sailing adventures. See my social media or click here to keep up to date and book.

I have appeared as a local story teller for the Argyll region in projects such as The Spirit of the Highlands & Islands and was the feature of an episode on the award nominated Wild for Scotland podcast for the series titled Uisge.
